Some of the stuff I've done lately:
-Took the swing arm back off so that I could install the dust caps I was missing
-Took the right crank case cover off, polished it up a bit, applied a few coats of clear engine enamel, re-installed with new gaskets
-Drained the oil to change the oil and replace the oil filter. Found that there was no filter. Slightly worrisome. Didn't have the spring or washer that needs to be between the filter and caps. Going to get one at a Honda dealer in Grand Forks, BC this weekend.
-Finally got around to re-building the carbs this weekend! Had a friend help me. This was a hugely intimidating step and I'm so happy that I've gotten past this. I learned that I didn't need to be so intimidated and next time I have to go open up the carbs, I won't get so anxious about it. Discovered in the process that the air cut off valves were pretty much toast. Honda replacement for each is $96 CAD!!!!!!!! ordered after market ones but they are back ordered for about a month or so. Oh well, lots of other stuff I can do in the meantime. The gaskets provided in the kit seemed too small, so for now just re-used the old ones. They seemed to be in good shape.
got this very clean, didn't get after pics.....
Mushy air cut-off valves:
-Ordered washers for the brake callipers and gaskets for the header pipes to connect to the collector and collector to mufflers.
-bought some self-ectching primer, sand paper, and gloss black paint for the rear fender and front wheel (already painted the rear wheel).
Getting excited!
